ADDICTION

Whatever brought you here, whatever you’re carrying — this is a space to begin again.

As research continues to advance our knowledge does too. As we learn more about addiction, the definition can change. Addiction can include anything that gets in the way of you living your normal life. It can include perseveration, hiding, lying, adrenaline when thinking about the desired activity, high risk activities and it can create issues in one's family, work, or social environment.

Addiction symptoms and behaviors include, among others:

  • Feeling the need to fill the desire more frequently
  • Having intense urges
  • Over time, desiring more
  • Not meeting obligations and responsibilities at home or work
  • Doing things you wouldn’t normally do like lying or stealing
  • Focusing more and more time and energy on getting and using
  • Experiencing withdrawal symptoms
  • Failed attempts to quit

If you can relate to any of the above symptoms or behaviors, it may be time to consider counseling.

Exploration is the first step. As an addiction counselor, I will address the symptoms of your addiction and the related areas. Together we will explore and try new things. I will meet you where you are at and we will create a path that works for you.
I believe that there are many paths to successful recovery. One step at a time… What are your goals and desires?
